Crestview City Councilman Ryan Bullard (Precinct 2) has submitted his resignation from the Crestview City Council, effective Dec. 31.
- Mayor JB Whitten announced the resignation at Monday night’s council meeting, reading from a letter Bullard sent him Sunday evening.
“After careful reflection, I’ve decided to resign my position on the Crestview City Council,” Bullard wrote. “This decision is a result of increasing professional obligations, personal responsibilities, and ongoing health consideration that require my full attention at this time.”
Bullard expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve. “Serving the citizens and residents of Crestview has been an honor, and I’m deeply grateful for the trust placed in me,” his letter stated. “I’m proud of the progress we’ve made together and confident in the continued success of our city.”
- The council will now begin the process of appointing a replacement, following the same procedure used when Councilwoman Dusty Allison was appointed to the Precinct 1 seat last December.
City Manager Jessica Leavins said the city will post the vacancy on its website early next week and begin accepting applications. Candidates must live within Crestview city limits south of Interstate 10, which comprises Precinct 2.
Leavins said the city plans to conduct interviews before the first council meeting in January, with the goal of having the new council member seated by the second January meeting.
