Heritage Hike: Oak Tree Nature Preserve

This tour will highlight local archaeological resources, focusing on the area’s Native American heritage.

This tour is offered for free and is limited to 20 participants. This tour is recommended for ages 13+; participants under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

This tour will highlight local archaeological resources, focusing on the area’s Native American heritage. Participants will learn about Native American history in Northwest Florida, what archaeology can tell us about pre-contact Native American sites, and how we can preserve and protect these non-renewable cultural resources.

Hikers will meet at the Oak Tree Nature Park pavilion (707 E Hollywood Blvd, Mary Esther, FL 32569) at 9:30am for a brief introductory presentation followed by a guided hike in the Preserve.

Hikers should dress for the weather and wear close-toed shoes. Drinking water is recommended.
