Set a Viking Table – a Forge and Woodwork class

June 1 @ 9:00 am - 3:00 pm

Three projects in one class! We will make a simple cutting board and then forge a dining pick and small butter/cheese knife.
This class will be taught at the introduction level.

We will use a table saw, drill press and router during this project as well are our standard forging equipment. Cutting boards will be finished with mineral oil. At the anvil you will learn to make a small butter knife and a dining pick. By the Way, lunch from Sonny’s BBQ is included in the cost of the class.

For any blacksmith class you must wear natural fabric (cotton) long trousers and closed toe shoes (leather is best). Long sleeve natural fabric shirt is recommended as bare arms can get stung by scale on occasion. Other required safety gear is provided however if you have a leather apron you may want to bring it (we sell aprons if interested).

Age 12 and up, but if under 18 your parent or guardian must be present to sign a waiver (and maybe stay around to help as a striker). Call 850-974-1548 if you have any questions. After an introduction class you can branch out to other classes enabling you to tackle various intermediate and advanced projects, something different is offered every week at Traditions Workshop – hardware, tool making, homeware items and, yes, knives.
