Graffiti Pizza opens in former World of Beer space at Destin Commons

Former pastor opens the newest Graffiti Pizza location at Destin Commons, featuring New York-style pizza and local graffiti artwork in the former World of Beer space.

Graffiti Pizza opened its second location on June 2 at the Destin Commons, bringing New York-style pizza and local artwork to the former World of Beer space.

  • Owner Michael McDevitt, a father of five who spent 10 years as a pastor in Minnesota before returning to the restaurant business, partnered with local artist Kelly Pierre from True Colors Studio Pierre Artist to create the restaurant’s distinctive graffiti artwork throughout the interior.

“I actually looked up graffiti artists and I kept getting names from Bowling Green and Louisville and all of these other places, but I really wanted to find a local artist. That’s when I found Kelly Pierre whose studio is at Harborwalk Village,” McDevitt said during the restaurant’s opening day ribbon cutting ceremony.

Pierre, who previously created the lighthouse artwork in that area, completed all the graffiti work for the restaurant. McDevitt noted the collaboration came together despite Pierre’s background being outside traditional graffiti art.

The restaurant serves customizable pizzas made with scratch-made dough, available by the slice or in 16-inch and 20-inch sizes. Menu highlights include the Graffiti Supreme with pepperoni, bell peppers, black olives, red onions and mushrooms, and the Buffalo Chicken pizza with buffalo sauce base, shredded mozzarella, chicken breast, jalapeños, bacon and cream cheese.

  • Beyond pizza, Graffiti Pizza offers salads and grinders, including Larry’s Meatball Grinder with pork and beef meatballs, red sauce and mozzarella on Italian bread, and a Greek Salad with romaine hearts, tomatoes, cucumbers, black olives, crumbled feta and red onions.

The restaurant features 16 beers on tap along with Fireball and wines on tap, plus house-made huckleberry lemonade. Happy hour runs Monday through Friday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. with $3 wells and $4 domestic bottles.

McDevitt, who has 28 years of restaurant experience, operates the Destin location while Matt LaFron owns the original Graffiti Pizza in Pensacola. LaFron previously opened World of Beer locations before selling out in 2017.

The restaurant is open Sunday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. at 4287 Legendary Drive in Destin Commons.
