HOW I WORK: An inside look at how contractor Jason Carducci runs job sites, backs local favorites, and keeps the beat with 90’s hip hop

Jason Carducci of JP Carducci, Inc. is a state-certified contractor leading projects across South Okaloosa and Walton County. With 4am starts, non-stop calls, and a strong work ethic, he still finds time for local spots, music, and community

Jason Carducci, of JP Carducci, Inc., arrived on the Emerald Coast in 1997 with the Air Force. Now a state-certified residential contractor, he has made South Okaloosa and Walton counties his home base.

  • His mornings start well before sunrise with breakfast, emails, and getting the kids moving, before heading out to check job sites and tackle a steady stream of calls.

We caught up to learn about Jason’s daily routine, his favorite local lunch spot, and why music — from Michael Jackson to Jesse Murph — is always part of the workday.

Are you a lifelong native and if not, where did you come from to the Emerald Coast and why?

No, I moved here in December of 1997 for the Air Force. This place just became home. I left twice, both for a short period of time, but there is a certain inner draw to this place. You just love it!

What’s your current job title and where do you work?

State Certified Residential Contractor, predominately South Okaloosa and Walton counties.

What’s your morning routine?

Up 4–4:30, breakfast, emails, and when I have the kids they get up at 5–5:15 and we just get the day going.

Describe what a typical workday looks like for you.

Mornings usually emails and paperwork, then check jobsites, deliver materials. Some days lots of driving, some days lots of office! But all days we clock about 30–50 calls. Right now the most in a day was 67. Lol.

What’s the first thing you do when you get to work (or start your workday)?

Usually email checking.

What tools, apps, or gadgets can’t you live without?

Tape measure and phone! I wouldn’t say there is a specific app per se. Typically use the internet for a lot of day to day.

Apple or Android?

Apple.

What’s your go-to coffee (or tea) order?

Coffee for sure — there are all types of great ways to make coffee. But if I am pulling up to get a morning drink… I love the hot mocha!

What’s your go-to lunch spot?

Where else… TOPS.

What’s one local business you love supporting?

There are a lot in my profession, but my personal best to support is Get The Coast.

What’s the best piece of career advice you’ve ever received?

Well there are two: As a subcontractor it was “Find the best guys, treat them right and you will grow well.” As a contractor it was “Put down the tool belt.”

If you could give your 20-year-old self a piece of advice, what would it be?

Invest and learn to budget your money.

How do you unwind after a long day?

Lmao… well that all depends! I like my friend Tito, he always has solid advice!

What’s one thing most people don’t know about you?

I hate talking in front of groups but love the camera. Odd! Besides that, it would be that I am a comedian and a great singer — alone.

What’s your favorite local event or tradition?

This is weird sort of — I don’t own a boat, have no desire to own a boat, but the traditions I like are Bowlegs and Crab Island. Just watching and being around the coastal events is cool.

What’s inspiring you right now (book, podcast, person, hobby)?

Idk honestly!

Early bird or night owl?

Early bird, and then you know some nights you are reminiscing about Timbers! Lol.

Most used emoji?

🤣🖕

Music while working — yes or no?

Always music, I have a few playlists. I love all types of music but my go-to is 90’s hip hop or the greatest ever, Michael Jackson! Been on this Jesse Murph kick — her raw style is 🔥.

Favorite motivational quote?

One life, live it.
