Students from schools across Northwest Florida will take the stage next month in a production that promises laughs, mischief and just the right amount of supernatural chaos.
- Mosaic Theatre Company, a local nonprofit children’s theatre, will present “Beetlejuice JR.” Oct. 3-5 at the Mattie Kelly Arts Center Sprint Theatre on the Northwest Florida State College campus in Niceville. The musical adaptation brings together young performers from diverse backgrounds to reimagine the hit Broadway show.
Based on Tim Burton’s cult-classic film turned Broadway sensation, “Beetlejuice JR.” follows Lydia Deetz, a teenage girl with a taste for the strange and unusual. Still grieving her mother’s death, Lydia’s world turns upside down when her family moves into a house haunted by a recently deceased couple and the outrageous, undead trickster Beetlejuice.
Chaos, comedy and catchy tunes follow when Lydia unleashes Beetlejuice in a wild plan to get her life back on track.
The original Broadway production earned eight Tony Award nominations, including Best New Musical. The show features a Tony-nominated score by Eddie Perfect and book by Anthony King and Scott Brown.
- “‘Beetlejuice’ has a large and fervent fan base among people of all ages,” said Drew Cohen, Music Theatre International’s President and CEO. “The response to ‘Beetlejuice JR.’ from audiences around the country is nothing short of astounding.
