Rick Scott thinking of reprimanding Mary Beth Jackson, $13 million Destin parking garage & Tom’s Bayou a little 💩

On Monday in Crestview, Governor Rick Scott was in full campaign mode as he seeks the U.S. Senate position. Speaking to county residents at Hub City Smokehouse and Grill, Scott was asked about Mary Beth Jackson, specifically, the child-abuse scandal that has rocked the school district. While Governor Scott did not give a definitely answer, according to the Crestview Bulletin, Scott might formulate some sort of reprimand for the Superintendent. Destin considering $13 Million parking garage

Want to get a local fired up? Mention “parking in Destin” and you can bet you’ll get a slew of responses. According to The Destin Log, Destin is considering building a parking garage on either the Marler Street or Zerbe Street parking lot, or a garage on each of the lots. Costs are estimated at $13 million for 531 parking spaces at the Marler Street and $18.7 million for 613 spaces at the Zerbe Street lot. The big question is, who will pay for these garages? Tom’s Bayou sewage spill

The City of Valparaiso reported a release of 60,000 gallons of raw sewage due to equipment failure at a lift station in Okaloosa County, according to the Northwest Florida Daily News. The sewage spill happened at the Hidden Cove Townhomes and the affected area includes Tom’s Creek on the west side to State Road 20 in Valparaiso. To read more on the spill, click here. FWB to launch RUOK Program for Seniors

The Fort Walton Beach police department is making a big push to promote their “robo call” service for elderly. The service, R.U.O.K. (Are you ok?) is an automated calling system that the end user sets up and calls the participant to make sure they are ok. WEAR TV spoke with dispatcher Brittany Johnson who said that participants can setup the automated call for anytime of the day or night they choose. If they don’t answer the first time it will call again. If they fail to answer again, it will alert local law enforcement. To read more on RUOK, click here.
