Ban on alcohol sales, Panama City Beach moves back curfew, Red tide still here

As of Monday, alcohol sales in both Bay and Gulf County were banned as stores started to open back up, according to the Walton Sun. Citing the need to not focus on drinking, Gulf County Sheriff’s Office acting spokesperson Corey Dobridnia said, “We need to not compound the situation with alcohol.” To read more on this story, click here.

Panama City Beach extends curfew

While the curfew remains 6:30 p.m.-6:30 a.m. in Bay County, within the City Limits of Panama City Beach, the curfew was extended to 9 p.m. According to The Destin Log, Panama City Beach has nearly 100 percent of its electricity restored.

Red Tide still here

As Hurricane Michael was approaching landfall, there was talk that the storm could get rid of red tide in Okaloosa and Santa Rosa county. According to the Northwest Florida Daily News, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission stated that K. brevis, the bacteria responsible for red tide, was observed in medium concentrations in or offshore of Okaloosa, Santa Rosa and Escambia counties. City of FWB Water Main Break On U.S. Highway 98

The City of Fort Walton Beach had a bit of an issue yesterday that backed traffic up quite a bit. The City of Fort Walton Beach Water Distribution spent most of the day repairing a broken water main on Miracle Strip Parkway SE (U.S. Highway 98 / State Road 30) in the vicinity of Brooks Bridge and Waffle House in the Paradise Pointe shopping center. The westbound outside lane was closed to allow for the water main repair and subsequent asphalt work. If you were stuck in traffic and wondering why…that’s what was up! As of 2:45pm yesterday afternoon, the repair of the broken water main had been completed and the road is open and safe for travel.

It’s time for the Mullet Festival

October 19th-21st head out to Niceville for the annual Mullet Festival, one of the South’s most celebrated music and food festivals! Attendees can expect entertainment by big-name artists like Tyler Farr, Tracy Byrd, and Montgomery Gentry is headlining. Admission is $15 at the gate Friday & Saturday and $10 on Sunday for family day – which means no booze. Kids 11 and under are free! Free parking will be available at NWF State College with a $2 shuttle fee to get you to the fairgrounds. On Friday the festival starts at noon, and Saturday & Sunday opens at 11am & ends after the last act of the night.
