“Comfort stations” in Panama City, One Hopeful Place to open medical clinic + City of FWB road closure

To: Daily Rundown Readers

Good morning!

Our neighbors to the East deserve as much comfort as they can get. For those who have not been able to leave the area and setup temporary shelter West, having access to things like water, ice, a shower, etc. would be a blessing. And that’s exactly what’s being setup now.

“Comfort Stations” are available throughout the City of Panama City. Each location has a large air-conditioned tent, nice restrooms, showers, food, ice, water and a friendly greeter to welcome you.

A new Facebook page called “Panama City Comfort Stations” announced the initiative and is providing ongoing information.

The page writes, “Please visit a location grab a meal, a few bags of ice for you and neighbors. Or just come and chill and beat the heat.”

Locations include:

  • Martin Luther King Jr. Recreation Center, 705 E. 14th Ct.
  • Daffin Park – Millville, 320 Kraft Ave.
  • Cove Shopping Center – Cove, 925 Cherry St.
  • Al Helms Dog – next to walking park on Balboa Ave, 1022 Balboa Ave.
  • Northstar Church – St Andrews, 2379 St Andrews Blvd.
  • Boys and Girls Club – 19th St., 3404 W. 19th St.
  • Old Party City Store, 2015 W. 23rd St.
  • Palm Bay Prep Academy, 1104 Balboa Ave.
  • Panama City Mall, Corner of 23rd St. and Hwy 77

One Hopeful Place to open medical clinic for those in need

For many, the luxury of being able to see a regular doctor to be treated is not an option. When they are sick or in need of medical assistance, their only option is to leave it untreated or go to the ER. Oftentimes, the latter, means ER bills that go unpaid.

According to the Northwest Florida Daily News, One Hopeful Place plans to turn a former portable classroom building into a medical clinic that will include general checkups, treatment for non-emergency symptoms and eye care and dental care. Click here to read more.
