Destin – Miramar Beach

Shelter House is hosting their 2nd annual Brunch and Bowl event this Saturday, October 14th at Uncle Buck’s Fish Bowl & Grill at Destin Commons. This is a family-friendly fundraiser that includes a breakfast buffet, unlimited bowling, silent auction, music, cash bar with Bloody Marys and mimosas, as & trophies for Best Team Score and Highest Individual Game! The Northwest Florida Ballet takes the stage at 7:00 p.m. this Saturday, October 14 at the Grand Park in Grand Boulevard at Sandestin to perform Giselle. Giselle is one of the oldest continually performed ballets dating back to Paris in 1841. Giselle is a free, outdoor performance presented as part of Grand Boulevard’s Coastal Culture series, made possible by the Grand Boulevard Arts & Entertainment Program.

Next Thursday the 19th is the third annual Lip Sync battle presented by Emerald Coast Theater Company. If you’ve never been to this event you are TOTALLY missing out. So basically, people sign up as individual or group acts and they go all out with hair, makeup and costumes to try to win the votes of the panel of judges as well as the people’s choice. AND you can also challenge people via social media to perform and if they refuse, they have to donate $100 to the Em Coast Theater Company.. They have even had some businesses and nonprofits put in a group to help get more awareness for their biz or the cause. If you want to perform, it’s $25 per performer and you must register and submit your song choice by Tuesday October 17th. 30A – Santa Rosa Beach

The 30A Blue Crab Festival is kicking off this Friday and is a 3-day celebration of the 30A lifestyle benefitting the South Walton Artificial Reef Association. There will be walk-a-bout style crab inspired dishes, a roaming jazz band and an A-la-carte jazz brunch Bill Garrett & Company providing live entertainment. The second-annual 30A Half Marathon & 5K will kick off with a bang starting on Friday, October 13. This scenic out-and-back course will travel from start and end at Gulf Place on Scenic Highway 30A. All proceeds from this event will benefit The Sonder Project and their mission to end extreme poverty and hunger worldwide. Registration for the Half Marathon is $90 and for the 5K Race is just $60. Also taking place on Friday night is the 30A BBQ FESTIVAL at Marina Park in WaterColor.. Sample all the best local BBQ and brews as locals compete for Best BBQ on 30A and Best Beer on the Coast! Fort Walton Beach

Bikes or Bust is roughly 2 months away, but local contractor Jason Carducci of JP Carducci Inc is ready to make it the biggest year yet! If you’re not familiar with Bike or Bust, it’s a local charity event put on by Highway 98.1 Country to provide kids with new bikes. The goal is for the community and businesses to donate or receive donations to purchase as many bikes as possible for kids, that might not have a chance to ever experience a brand new Bike! Hey, remember when the Travel Channel filmed their segment of Food Paradise at Al’s Beach Club & Burger Bar at the Boardwalk? Well, now it’s time to actually watch the premiere of that episode. So this is pretty cool! DeFrance Antiques in Downtown Fort Walton Beach is hosting a Dollar Days event this Saturday and Sunday. Search the booths for special “dollar deals” hidden away. Head on over to AJ’s Oyster Shanty on Okaloosa Island this Saturday for the second annual .5K K Donut Dash benefiting the Emerald Coast Autism Center! The $25 Entry Fee includes a tee shirt, donuts, and the after party with Live Music featuring local favorite Austin Jennings. There will also be fun activities for kids including a Bounce House, Face Painting, Spin Art, and a doughnut eating contest.

Navarre

This Friday and Saturday, Fear Forest’s haunted trail in Navarre is back! The organization recommends that no one under the age of 13 enters the haunted trail without a parent. Due to the nature of some scenes or environments the trail may be too much for a younger audience. But don’t worry, The Haunted trail will have carnival games set up for the younger crowd as well. They are requesting a canned good/non-perishable food item or any cash donation for entry. All donations will go to Manna food bank. One-blood’s big red bus will be there to take blood donations as well.
