Allegiant adds two new routes to Destin-Fort Walton Beach Airport

Allegiant will launch nonstop service between Destin-Fort Walton Beach Airport and both Columbia, Missouri and Denver, Colorado beginning in spring and summer 2026.

Allegiant Travel Company announced two new nonstop routes to Destin-Fort Walton Beach Airport on Tuesday as part of a nationwide expansion that includes 30 new routes connecting 35 cities and four new markets.

  • The airline will launch service between Columbia, Missouri via Columbia Regional Airport and VPS beginning June 5, 2026, with one-way fares as low as $59. Service between Denver, Colorado via Denver International Airport and VPS will begin May 21, 2026, also with one-way fares as low as $59.

The new routes are part of Allegiant’s expansion into La Crosse, Wisconsin; Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; Trenton, New Jersey; and Columbia, Missouri.

“We’re thrilled to continue Allegiant’s growth by adding these new routes,” said Drew Wells, Allegiant’s chief commercial officer. “Our mission has always been to connect travelers to world-class destinations at an affordable price. These additions provide convenient options for leisure travelers and reflect our commitment to expanding service where demand is strong. As we grow, we remain focused on delivering the most value to our customers.”

  • Tickets for all newly announced routes are now available at Allegiant.com.

The route announcement comes as Allegiant pilots conducted an informational picket at VPS and 21 other bases nationwide on Tuesday. The pilots, represented by Teamsters Local 2118, are demanding a fair contract with the airline after what the union describes as ongoing negotiation delays.

According to the Teamsters, Allegiant continues to ask for concessions while investing in everything except their pilots. The union said the airline is losing talented and experienced pilots to competitor airlines, which could jeopardize local routes.

The picket comes nearly one year after a similar demonstration at VPS in December 2024, when approximately 40 to 50 pilots and flight attendants gathered to raise awareness about stalled contract negotiations. At that time, union officials said negotiations had been under federal mediation for nearly 24 months, with the pilots’ contract having become amendable in 2021.

Destin-Fort Walton Beach Airport serves as one of Allegiant’s crew bases, with approximately 40 pilots stationed there.
