Allegiant Air pilots conducted an informational picket at Destin-Fort Walton Beach Airport on Tuesday as part of a nationwide action involving more than 1,400 pilots across 22 airport bases.
- The pilots, represented by Teamsters Local 2118, are demanding a fair contract with the airline after what the union describes as ongoing negotiation delays. The picketing began at 10 a.m.
According to the Teamsters, Allegiant continues to ask for concessions while investing in everything except their pilots. The union said the airline is losing talented and experienced pilots to competitor airlines, which could jeopardize local routes.
“Teamsters pilots are simply asking to be respected and fairly compensated for the work they do every day and are picketing to remind the company that without pilots, their planes don’t fly,” the union said in a statement.
The informational picket took place simultaneously at all 22 Allegiant bases nationwide. Pilots held signs that read “Allegiant Air: Bad Bets in Vegas, Bad Bets in Management” and “Allegiant Management Wastes Millions, Pilots Still Waiting.”
The picket comes nearly one year after a similar demonstration at VPS in December 2024, when approximately 40 to 50 pilots and flight attendants gathered to raise awareness about stalled contract negotiations.
- At that time, union officials said negotiations had been under federal mediation for nearly 24 months, with the pilots’ contract having become amendable in 2021.
Destin-Fort Walton Beach Airport serves as one of Allegiant’s crew bases, with approximately 40 pilots stationed there.
Allegiant Air is headquartered in Las Vegas.
