Two local technology companies have earned recognition among the top 15 positions on Florida Trend magazine’s Best Companies To Work For list for 2025, with Bit-Wizards earning its 16th consecutive recognition and TalkingParents claiming honors for the second straight year.
- The annual ranking, featured in Florida Trend’s August issue, evaluates 100 companies across small, medium and large employer categories throughout Florida. Both companies are led by CEO Vince Mayfield, who has built his business philosophy around intentional culture development.
“Great companies aren’t built by accident. They’re forged by values and grit on the culture battlefield, where relentless leadership turns talent into purpose, discipline, and a team that believes in the mission,” Mayfield said.
Mayfield emphasized the significance of maintaining workplace excellence over time, particularly for Bit-Wizard’s sustained recognition spanning more than a decade and TalkingParents’ consecutive achievements.
- “Winning Florida Trend’s Best Places to Work again, 16 years running for Bit-Wizards and now two consecutive years for TalkingParents, is more than a badge of honor. You don’t survive as a business for 25 years without building an intentional culture, and that’s exactly what Louis and I have done here in Northwest Florida,” Mayfield said. “We’ve built companies rooted in purpose, not just profit, where success means lifting people up, not just hitting targets.”
The CEO highlighted how both organizations prioritize community investment, noting that employees “buy homes here, raise families here, and give back here” in the Destin-Fort Walton Beach area.
“At Bit-Wizards and TalkingParents, talented people thrive because our values – accountability, communication, and lifelong learning – are lived every day. Our Wizards and T-Parenters are part of this community,” Mayfield said. “We’re not just building software and providing stellar IT services, we’re building careers, futures, and a legacy of excellence right here in the Destin/Fort Walton Beach area. That’s something we’re proud of.”
To qualify for consideration, companies must employ at least 15 Florida workers and operate for a minimum of one year. The selection process includes comprehensive evaluation of workplace policies, practices, philosophy, systems and demographics, combined with employee satisfaction surveys. The combined scores determine the top companies and the final ranking.
Florida Trend Executive Editor Amy Keller noted that top employers distinguish themselves through people-focused investments rather than financial metrics alone.
- “Our annual ‘Best Companies To Work For In Florida’ program once again shows what sets the state’s best employers apart from others — and it’s not paychecks or profit margins,” Keller said. “While those help, of course, the best companies invest in people and find creative ways to motivate and reward employees and help them grow. They’re also purposeful about creating a great culture. These employers find ways to encourage connection and camaraderie — and they also prioritize giving back to their communities, understanding that it can have a profound impact on morale. Their examples offer an excellent roadmap for companies seeking to differentiate themselves from the competition.”
Publisher David Denor described this year’s honorees as organizations that stand out among their competition.
“Always a step ahead… this year’s group of Best Companies To Work For In Florida stand out among their competition,” Denor said. “Dynamic thinkers, creative and inspiring in their actions, and enterprising in their industries – these companies recruit, retain and deliver distinctive workplace environments and employee benefits plans to keep their staff engaged, involved and constantly collaborating. These organizations deliver a glimpse into future workforce and workplace environments.”
