Officials at Eglin Air Force Base are taking precautions as Tropical Storm Helene approaches the Florida Panhandle, potentially bringing hazardous weather to the area.

  • Brig. Gen. Mark Massaro, 96th Test Wing commander, said Tuesday that the base is prioritizing personnel safety and security.

“We will continue to closely monitor and respond appropriately to any upcoming weather conditions,” Massaro said.

The 96th Medical Group may reschedule appointments due to the storm threat. Patients are advised to stock up on medications and medical supplies for at least 10 days.

Base services could face disruptions as the storm nears. Officials have not announced any evacuations or base closures at this time.

  • Team Eglin members are urged to review family emergency plans and stay informed through news broadcasts and National Hurricane Center forecasts.

The base is using its social media accounts and website to provide updates on the situation.

For more information, base officials directed inquiries to the 96th TW Public Affairs office.
