A high-speed pursuit that reportedly reached speeds over 100 mph ended with two arrests Wednesday morning in Okaloosa County, according to a Florida Highway Patrol report.
- The incident began at 8:15 a.m. when an unmarked FHP vehicle occupied by two troopers attempted to stop a white Toyota Corolla on westbound Interstate 10 near the 73-mile marker, according to the report.
The vehicle had been pointed out by other motorists as driving recklessly, and troopers identified that it had an expired tag, according to the report.
The Toyota allegedly fled, exiting onto southbound State Road 285 at Exit 70 and continuing south until mile marker 9, where it turned left onto Range Road 201, according to the report. Troopers then used a Precision Immobilization Technique, commonly known as a pit maneuver, to end the pursuit.
- The vehicle was occupied by three adults and an 18-month-old child, according to the report.
Kyle Lee Bird, 30, of Zephyrhills, who was identified as the driver, was arrested and charged with reckless driving, aggravated fleeing to elude, child endangerment, felony possession of methamphetamine, and felony possession of a marijuana derivative, according to the report.
Marissa Lynn Brimlow, 31, of Riverview, who was reportedly in the front passenger and mother of the child, was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana and felony violation of probation, according to the report.
The adult rear passenger, an 18-year-old male from Riverview, was not charged, according to the report.
No injuries were reported in connection with the incident. The child was released to representatives with the Department of Children and Family Services, according to the report.
