Fort Walton Beach High School Senior Master Sergeant Amber Burke has been named the 2025 Overall AF/SF Outstanding Instructor of the Year, earning national recognition for her work with the school’s Air Force Junior ROTC program.
- Burke also received the Regional-Level Award Winner designation for Region 2, placing her among what officials call the “Best of the Best” in Air Force Junior ROTC instruction.
The Department of the Air Force’s AFJROTC Outstanding Instructor Awards recognize instructors who go above and beyond in educating, mentoring, and shaping their cadets. The awards highlight exceptional contributions that reflect the highest standards of Air Force Core Values.
Superintendent Marcus Chambers praised Burke’s achievement in a statement.
“This recognition is a testament to SMSgt Burke’s unwavering commitment to excellence and service,” Chambers said. “She exemplifies leadership and inspires our students to reach their fullest potential. We are incredibly proud of her and grateful for the positive influence she has on our cadets and the school community.”
Principal Lindsey Smith also commended Burke’s work with the Viking JROTC program.
- “SMSgt Burke’s dedication to her students and her leadership within our JROTC program is truly outstanding,” Smith said. “She embodies the values of hard work, integrity, and mentorship, making a difference in the lives of so many. We are honored to have her leading our Viking JROTC program.”
Burke’s recognition highlights her dedication, leadership, and passion for mentoring cadets, which have made a lasting impact on the Viking JROTC program, the school, and the greater community, according to school officials.
