A motorcyclist was arrested and his bike impounded after being caught speeding 91 mph in a 35 mph zone in Destin during the ongoing Operation Southern Slow Down enforcement effort, according to the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office.
- The incident occurred as Deputies with Delta East Patrol conducted increased traffic enforcement, resulting in numerous traffic stops.
The motorcyclist was initially stopped for speeding in the City of Destin, where a deputy educated him on the hazards of speeding and the risk he puts the general public in when he speeds. He was released from that stop with a stern warning to slow down.
However, once out of sight of the deputy who stopped him, the motorcyclist was stopped a second time by another deputy who reportedly caught him traveling at 91 mph in the 35 mph zone.
- The motorcyclist was placed under arrest and taken to the Okaloosa County Jail. His motorcycle was impounded.
The arrest occurred during Operation Southern Slow Down, the multi-agency traffic safety mobilization that runs through July 19 across Florida and the Southeast.

Good. These crotch rockets are a menace weaving in and out of traffic going twice the posted speed limit. Good work Deputies.
