Hilton waiting on Destin approval, Fallen deputies get road designations + This week’s events

On Monday’s Daily Rundown, I talked about TRU by Hilton, the 117-room hotel that is coming to the Destin Commons. According to The Destin Log, the development orders highlight plans for on-site stormwater management and a traffic impact analysis. Honoring those who paid the ultimate sacrifice

Four fallen Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office deputies were honored Monday with road designations, according to the Northwest Florida Daily News. Anthony “Tony” Forgione, William “Bill” Myers, Burton “Burt” Lopez and Warren “Skip” York. To read more on the sponsors of these road designations and where they can be found, click here.

Val-p fire chief gets suspended

After being told by Mayor Brent Smith that Smith has “lost confidence in your ability to sufficiently guide the fire department in a time of need”, Fire Chief Mark Norris has been suspended. According to the Northwest Florida Daily News, Niceville Fire Chief Tommy Mayville has been appointed to oversee the Fire Department in his absence. To read more on the suspension, click here.
