The Okaloosa Board of County Commissioners approved a purchase order for playground equipment at Meigs Park in Niceville on Oct. 7, moving the all-inclusive Miracle League facility project closer to completion.
- The board approved a $468,321.95 purchase order to GameTime for playground structures, safety surfacing, sail shades, benches and installation.
The playground is part of a joint development project between Okaloosa County and the City of Niceville, which entered into an interlocal agreement on Jan. 16, 2024. The project will transform Meigs Park into an ADA Miracle League style facility.
The park will include a pavilion with concession stand and quiet room, a bathroom facility, a 6,180-square-foot playground area, a Miracle League baseball field, a large multi-purpose field and a walking path.

Okaloosa County is the recipient of a $1.25 million grant award from the Florida Department of Environmental Protection for the development of the special needs ball field and playground.
The project is funded by a combination of the FDEP grant, up to $750,000 from the county’s Tourist Development District funds, and contributions from the City of Niceville. The city will provide permitting assistance, general oversight, ongoing maintenance, ensure compliance with grant funding conditions, add parking and new bathrooms.

The board previously approved $372,110 for engineering and architectural services with Mott MacDonald for the project in March 2024.
The planned improvements also include an 8-foot quarter-mile walking track, a 200-foot ball field, a large ADA-compliant playground and a basketball/volleyball court.
