One person is dead following an apparent home invasion robbery attempt at a residence on Culp Avenue near Fort Walton Beach. 35-year old Edgar Jennings III was killed last night after someone tried to force their way into his residence.

A 9-1-1 call came in around 11:50 last night of someone trying to enter a home. Callers reported hearing gunfire and Jennings’ body was found a short time later.

The Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office is investigating and processing the crime scene.

Additional information will be released as developments warrant.

Just two days ago, Jennings uploaded this video to Facebook of him and his daughter. In the post he wrote,

“I’m so glad that you were finally able to enjoy your day. I’m thankful that I was able to ensure that you had a very special birthday and made it all about you. You deserve nothing but the best and I will never settle for anything less than that. You have done nothing but make me strive to be a better person every day. I could not do this without you. You are my everything…”
