Motorists along Highway 98 on Thursday morning may have noticed an unusual sight: a C-130 fuselage making its way eastbound in the westbound lane.
- The fuselage, which is used for training purposes at Hurlburt Field, was being transported to a facility for modification work. Once the modifications are complete, it will return to the base to resume its training role.
The transport required the aircraft fuselage to travel eastbound in the westbound lane between Hurlburt Field and Mary Esther Boulevard, causing intermittent closures along the route.
The Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office and the Florida Department of Transportation coordinated the movement to ensure safe passage of the oversized load.
