South Walton Fire District firefighters responded to a residential structure fire in Rosemary Beach early Friday morning, battling flames at a large three-story home that threatened neighboring properties.
- Dispatchers received a 911 call at 12:34 a.m. reporting the fire on N. Winston Lane. Firefighters from Engine 1, Rescue 1 and Engine 6 arrived at 12:40 a.m. to find heavy fire conditions and immediately requested additional resources from all five SWFD fire stations.
Multiple people were asleep inside the home when the fire started but managed to escape, according to the report. SWFD firefighters evaluated one occupant for burn injuries and transported them to a local medical facility for further treatment. No other injuries were reported.

The firefight and overhaul operations continued for several hours due to the size of the residence involved. First-arriving crews initiated their fire attack to extinguish the flames while working to protect neighboring homes from the spreading fire, according to the SWFD.
- The fire caused heavy damage to the residence where it originated but did not impact any neighboring homes, according to the fire district.
The SWFD Fire Marshal and State Fire Marshal’s Office are actively investigating the cause of the fire.
SWFD thanked the Walton County Sheriff’s Office deputies and mutual aid partners for their assistance throughout the incident. The district also extended its support to the impacted property owners and occupants.
