Taylor Swift mentions Destin in latest track “Florida!!!” from new album

"So you work your life away just to pay / For a timeshare down in Destin"

Pop superstar Taylor Swift released her eleventh studio album, “The Tortured Poets Department,” on Friday morning, and Destin, Florida, received a special mention in one of the tracks.

In the song “Florida!!!”, Swift references the popular beach destination with the lyrics:

“Little did you know your home’s really only
A town you’re just a guest in
So you work your life away just to pay
For a timeshare down in Destin.”

The City of Destin quickly capitalized on the mention, releasing a statement on social media:

  • “We’ve had other songs mention Destin over the years, but it’s the first official for Taylor Swift with her newly released ‘Florida!!!’. We always had a sneaking suspicion that ‘Shake it Off’ was really about the sand in her toes after a long, happy beach day.”

This is not the first time Destin has been featured in popular music, but seemingly marks Swift’s first reference to the city in her discography. The album, shortened to “Tortured Poets” and abbreviated as TTPD, has already generated significant buzz among fans and critics alike.
