A structure fire damaged the bathroom facility at Grady Brown Park early Monday morning, according to Walton County Fire Rescue officials.
- At 3:23 a.m., the Walton County Sheriff’s Office Communications Center received a 911 call from a passerby who reported seeing flames coming from the back door of the park’s restroom building while driving through the area.
Walton County Sheriff’s Office deputies and Fire Rescue crews arrived shortly after to find the structure fully engulfed in flames. Firefighters immediately began suppression efforts and worked to contain the fire.
No injuries were reported in the incident.

The State Fire Marshal’s Office investigated the cause of the fire, which was determined to be accidental in nature.
- “This could have been much worse if not for the quick response of our crews and the person who made the call,” said Fire Chief Austin Pugh. “We train for moments like this, and our team executed exactly as they should.”
Walton County Fire Rescue cleared the scene at 8:14 a.m.
Grady Brown Park is located on the north side of the bay at the Clyde B. Wells Bridge on US Highway 331 at 20940 US Highway 331 South, Freeport.
